Summer Funtasia Day Camp

Who among us doesn't remember the freedom of a childhood summer?

Do you remember the excitement of the wonderful activities that awaited us at the summer recreation program in our local park. Many of those activities are the highlight of many memories as a child during the summer ( aside from the camping trips to the lake ). Looking back on it, they weren't very complicated but the memories have stayed all these years. It's our desire to ensure that children of working parents should still have those great times and great memories. Join us for the summer as we re-create that magic for your children! Following are a few of the themes from past camps.

During Fins and Fishes week, we set sail for watery party fun. We cooked up some fishy food, or at least decorated cupcakes in the attempt, after all which would you rather eat. We enjoyed watery fun and games. Watch out for the wet sponge and octopus landings! We made our own fishing rods, and fished for prizes in the centre “fish pond”. The week culminated with a fishing trip to Shannon Lake where we used our fishing rods to tease the fish. The size of the fish that got away grew bigger between the lake and the Centre, a fishy story if we ever heard one.

Together We Are Better week saw cooperation and teamwork rule as we hiked to local parks with our parachute, flying discs, croquet set, and humungous soccer ball to enjoy Funtasia Sports days. Activities centered around working together and supporting each other. Monster truck building was a highlight. Even the Kidz in the Kitchen were involved, using waffles for wheels, fruit for rims, and maple syrup for oil. A tasty adventure indeed!

Self-Expression week provided opportunities to show creativity through paint, sculpture, drawing, clay, music and food. Pizza faces has got to be an artistic event of the season. Everyone had the opportunity to participate in karaoke singing and entertaining at our own rock concert. We even made our own self portraits from paint we made from scratch. Tacky Tourist Day led to a trip to the Kettle Valley Water Park and Playground for much needed reprieve from the summer heat.

It isn’t summer without camping, so we made our own version for Campout Week, although it looked a lot more like a cardboard village than a campground when all was said and done. And it isn’t camping without s’mores. The creative kids in the centre made colourful sand sculptures.

For Carnival Week, children made their own carnival midway with a variety of hand-eye coordination games, then did the rounds themselves before setting up again for the daycare children. For added flavour the Kidz in the Kitchen crafted homemade ice cream.

The Summer Funtasia Program is for kindergarten and grade school children. The program runs weekly throughout the summer, Monday to Friday, except on statutory holidays.
